Sems to me the “Primer on PBVC Pipe” in the January issue is one of those “pie in the sky” type articles where the tradesman has all of the right parts and knows how to use them. The real world is a bit different, in my experience …. View Image

Tool Donations Sought
I’m matching tool donors to a church mission to Haiti – we’re shipping a bus converted to a medical facility in January (we hope) and can fill it with clothes, tools and all sorts of stuff needed in that poorest of all countries. A few hand tools or power tools can provide a livelihood for an otherwise destitute family. Please email me if you have tools to donate.

Wow, are those jumper cables off to the left? I'm going to complain to the plumbing supply guy tomorrow--he's been holding out on the powered Ts, too . . .
Looks like a typical HO repair. In my area they are becoming more common.
As far as I'm concerned their use should be severely restricted.
Typical scenario;
1 HO makes repair or addition themselves
2 Sewer causes problems at later date
3 Sewer machine cable destroys "fantastic repair part"
4 HO " What do you mean the sewer line needs repaired as well? It never had a problem until you cleaned the sewer!
That is a Mason Jar on the left, correct? Insoluble. Easy to inspect pipe contents (oh boy!), and threaded access to boot. Maybe it's a step forward! ;-)
Did they use the 80 mph duct tape (like for Super Cubs) or the 160 mph duct tape (for Cessna 206s)?
David: I think it was the Star Wars duck tape - like the Frce - it has a light side and a dark side;

Why are they wasting time with duct tape? The previous owners of my house proved that elctrical tape is the material of choice for patching cast iron, or adding a nice black flair to a sink drain. My brother is a plumber in NYC and told me he sees it all of the time....that's not a mistake, it's rustic
That's a professional job. The drain system in my house had PVC, ABS, copper, cast iron, galvanized and black iron. All within one 4-foot segment and wrapped with 90 yards of duct tape.
