Pivot Door Weatherstrip Ideas?
Building a pivot-type entry door for our remodel – 4′ x 7′ x 2-1/4″ thick. Rixson 370 hinge set. Large (3′ x 5′) dual pane glass insert. Hardwood core, glued-up with alternating grain directions, clad in white oak or ash veneer. Sugatsune pulls, keyed deadbolt, HD roller catch in top edge. Ipe flooring inside, ipe decking over sleepers/membrane outside. Threshold is TBD…
Southern California, southwestern coastal exposure. But, door will be set back into an 8′ deep entry corridor from the outside wall so minimal direct exposure to water, UV, etc…
I’m trying to work out the trim details – alternating stops at “hinge”/”strike” jambs, etc… Looking for suggestions on appropriate weatherstrip/draftstop technique.
Our architect has suggested Pemko as a decent company, but I know nothing about weatherstripping and their array of product offerings is staggering!
Suggestions? Experience? Cautions? Funny stories?
Thanks (AGAIN!) in advance for your collective wisdom…
