Was wondering does anyone have any pros or cons on the DW735 planer.

It's heavy and the allen key falls out of the built in holder when you are wresting it up a set of stairs. (That's it for the negative)
I think it's a great planer but you should either have a stand ready or buy the Dewalt stand. The Dewalt stand is very well made and makes moving the planer around the garage or shop floor easy.
Although it has two speeds, I've only used the fast cut speed with excellent results.
Did I mention how heavy the planer is? I suppose the weight is both a drawback for portability and a bonus for stability.

I bought one a few weeks ago or so and love it.
I've used both speeds, altough I haven't noticed much differnce in cut quality between the fast and slow feed rate.
Like Doug said it's a heavy SOB, I wouldn't want to bring it up and down stairs.
Two other minor down sides I've found, the chip ejector works so well it sprays chips every where, the fan assisted ejection has some serious power, not really a negative though. The PVC pipe I have attached the outfeed at least keeps the chips heading to the ground, don't let the garbage can fool you though, none of them end up staying in there.
The other downside I found was the short table, and no standard outfeed extensions, you can buy them for an extra 50 or so bucks.
Instead of buying the extenstion wings I build a table that holds the planer and my 10" chop saw. For the same money the extensions would have cost in materials and a few hours it works well.
And I usually hate dewalt tools, but it appears they got it right on this one.
Does your setup cure snipe?
Thx
so far snipe hasn't been a problem with the outfeed table.
For your trash can problem you might try a piece of fiberglass screen and a couple of bungees.

Thank Y ou every one I just bought one last night but have not had the time to use it or play with yet because today is wifes family picninc annd she says no more messes today. thanks again.
I've had mine since spring and love it. It's a heavy bugger but I'm planning on leaving it in the shop. Make plans or buy some kind of chip redirector. Or get used to chips everywhere.
Always trust your cape.
