Here is what I am doing.
My new website is going to cater to advanced hobby carpenters, garden/Landscape Designers, and Craftsmen/Woodworkers/Carpenters/GC’s.
As some of you would know…I have had the year from H e ll and am due for a change. Divorce due to working too much, cut off a thumb which has added up to dwindelling savings. I am obviously not cut out for Contracting,(I don’t have enough luck for it).
I am going to stick to doing what I do best…designing interesting woodwork features, with a little luck. I have created plans for Arbors, Pergolas, and Fences which I am sure you will enjoy building since they will add up to more money in your pocket. Any orders that say Breaktime on the orderform will get the plan for 25% less, (just my way of giving some back). Once you order a plan and build it, send me along a pic and your contact number…I will post it so that clients can contact you directly to have you build projects in your area…(Associated Contractors section…In links).
What do you all think??? Give me some feedback…Lets talk…

Lawrence,
Checked out your site a while ago. Great projects. I'm not sure you don't have what it takes. Looks like you do and then some.
Anyway: My sister is a painter (art, not houses). She paints custom artwork for pretty much anyone who wants to hire her.
Much of her work is from word of mouth but her best advertising has been magazine articles written about her and winning some painting competitions.
She sends projects she has done with a couple of pages of "how to" instructions into several of the arts and crafts magazines and gets many published. Some of the mags now call her and ask her to do special projects. The mags pay a little but the real value to her is the free exposure. They always print her picture, name, and address at the end of the article.
Your photos are sharp enough and the work good enough to get you published.
I think you might make out better marketing to the home owner who can buy your plans, dream about building them and eventually just file them away for "some day". I know, I have a "some day" file of all sorts of projects I will never do.
*Gee, wasn't there some rule about not posting advertising on this site?Just kidding, Lawrence, I really like your stuff and would rather know about it than not. For my favorite example of an Internet plans marketing scheme, check out Woodsmith (plans for furniture, alas). I think the presentation and purchase/delivery setup are superb. (Plus the plans are priced very reasonably, so you wouldn't really think of pirating them.)I think your idea is a good one. Perhaps you could, um, pay a premium for plans from your Breaktime friends to add to your collection? ::))
