   if it is loose let it fly, i assume that the moisture that created this problem has been addressed with the roof.....sure, then.....seal the cleaned and dry surface with a kilz or better product and build up slowly with a 45/90 gsp product........no need for the gravity and time defying acrobatics of plaster of paris

   I would get some "plasterweld" and some easy sand joint compound and and plaster. Mix the dry 1 to 1 add water and sand if You need to. A little experimenting will pay off. After taking all the loose material from the area You are fixing apply the plasterweld and go to town. Good luck! Skip

   My house was built in 1929 and has plaster walls. The plaster was installed on some type of fibered board with a thick brown or scratch coat and a thin finish coat...no lathe. I had water leaks in a few places and now the finish coat is separating from the scratch. Being the good builders house, it had been this way for about three years. The roof has since been replaced, and I know it is good and dry. Can I just remove the loose stuff and feather in a new finish coat? Should I use Durabond? Any type of bonding agent necessary? Any way to match the sand texture that is in the original plaster? As you can see, any advice, tips, or tricks welcomed. Thanks All.
