OK here is some advice to all you part & full time plumbers out there.
When setting trim if I see a friggin 18 or 24″ pipe wrench in the vacinity I will slam you on top of the head with it.
OK OK I know some things out there might need a bit of umph , but tub spouts & shower heads are not one of them.
Friday I had to look at the 13th split drop eared 90 on the tub spout so far out of 350 hotel rooms & 185 condo’s.
Which now consist of 8K in redoing tile work & 15K in redoing sheetrock, not to mention a total of 64 combined days of hotel rooms @ 450 bucks per night that the Westin is going to bend my company over with.
+ the GC doing clean- up & mark-up on subs work.
I called the guy who I took over this job from—- as he was trying to get me to come to his new place of employment I blurted out the friggin leaks & he hung up on me.
OK my nerves are shot I need a shot of absolute—— these guys are makin over 30 bucks per hour & take zero pride in what they do.
Ok rant over for now………………………………………………………………..

They should have used a shorter snipe. ;)
There isn't some kind of chargeback provision in their contract?
LOL
Charge back a union hand ------that's a good one
+ I could never prove who actually did the work.
When a lot of this was being done they were really far behind & had over 40 plumbers working."can you cross your legs were short a nail" Pontius Pilate
Oooops, sorry Bill I didn't realize the whole picture. Wishful thinking I guess...
After 43 plus years in the plumbing trade I agree with you, they don't care. I don't use a wrench on tub spouts or shower spouts. I don't think that you can hit them with the wrench, but maybe we can deny breeding rights!
On hotel work ya get two kinds......real bad, & darn good...& lot's more of the former
been there, done it too.....
I GOT A GRIPE FOR PLUMBERS TOO. If you dig a hole in a bldg pad, you are responsible for compacting the soil back in the hole. not in one lift either. Its not the rsposnibilty of anybody but the plumber to do this. We cannot pour concrete till you do.
Very true.
That's why I love pea gravel or CDF----- drop it in the hole & bang it's compacted."can you cross your legs were short a nail" Pontius Pilate
What's "CDF"?
BTW - re your origional rant, I learned that about 20 years ago the hard way- no big wrenches on tub/shower trim... or probably any trim - and I'm no plumber...
CDF = Control Density Fill --- AKA flowable fill.
Comes out in mixing trucks.
Usually a .5 to a 1.5 sack depending on how hard ya want the stuff when it dries.
Yeah the wrench thing is driving me nuts.
I only carry a few small tools on me when doing my walk throughs. 6" crescent, 6" channel locks, 4 in 1 screw driver, tape measure, & not pad with pencil.
I had to use a cheater pipe to take the showerhead off so I could put my test gauge on it.
I had one apprentice on the job who was splitting fittings on a reguler basis, but he was about 285lbs & had arms the size of my thighs.
He was just starting to get the hang of -------not everything is a test of strength."can you cross your legs were short a nail" Pontius Pilate
