I’ve had to substantially lower the horizontal break of the vent trap arm
to accomdate a longer tub. In effect, it is much closer to drain height
now. I know the code in most places says 6″ above overflow line for a
fixture. Can someone please explain the importance of this rule in a tub
and what impact is created as that height descends? Thanks. David Be

I believe they're worried about "stuff" -- which could be coming
from some higher fixture than the tub -- getting trapped in the
vent
and plugging it. The six inches is the safety margin.
Could you install a 45° to avoid the horizontal?
