Is it better to have the particle shredded ply wood or the full sheet of continous(non-shredded) ply wood for flooring and are screws better than nails to prevent squeaking for a new home.

be prepared to get all sorts of opinions on this subject: plywood vs. OSB (oriented strand board)
I can tell you that screws will be much better than nails in terms of squeak reduction though. Squeaks are caused by two materials rubbing against eachother. Think of the plywood or OSB sliding up and down the shaft of a nail as you walk on top - lots of potential for squeaks. Screws hold the two materials together tightly - less chance of squeaks.
Also, use subfloor adhesive for extra insurance. It's worth the extra time to install.

Not to dis your EXCELLENT choice on recommending screws... but I thought that the squeaks were due to wood/wood movement, not wood/metal contact in the fasteners. The screws might help against squeaks because they lessen the ability of the wood to move at all is my amature understanding.Rebuilding my home in Cypress, CA

Squeaking is definitely the result of wood / fastener friction.

A well done floor can be done by any of several methods with any of several materials. So can a poorly done floor.
I prefer 3/4" T&G plywood with glue and nails with joists at 16".
