How does one get the “polished look” on plaster. I have a plaster ceiling with a 2′ x 2′ section that was damaged by water. I removed the old cracked plaster leaving the brown coat. Using a 14″ cement finishing trowel and a hawk I used patching plaster to patch over the damaged area. After it set up, I sprayed it with water and tried working it in circles with the trowel (I saw some guys do something similar on a job I worked on once). I didn’t get the smooth polished look I was after so I had to go over it with joint compound. What did I do wrong? Thanks
