Source control, ventilation, and filtration are the keys to healthy indoor air quality. Dehumidification is important too.

Fans, heat (regular house heat) and de-humidifier.
Is it just tacky, or wet wet?
Mixed thoroughly before application?
RE-coat often takes a long time to dry, especially when it's cool and humid. That seems like a lot longer than normal though.
Bing
tacky, mixed throughly
Sounds like there may be some wax unner there. Just a little bit can f.u. poly good.
Wax was stripped

Even if applied very thick, don't you think 7 days is enough drying time? Knowing my dad, it was applied correctly.
My only thought is that maybe it was an old can of poly? Is there a manufacturing date anywhere on the can?
Maybe call the manufacturer and see if they have any suggestions. Of course, having done that a few times myself, waiting a few more days for it to dry might be faster than sitting on the phone going thru those computer prompts they make ya do <G>

That is why I posted on here, to find out if others have had the problem and how to deal with it.
The poly, according to Ace Hardware, is current. My dad checked.
if applied too thick a jell pocket may have formed between top and bottom sealing layers..
make up the test strips and experiment...
forbid that you should find that you have defective poly...
BTW.. what brand was the poly...

Bought at Ace Hardware. I will be going tomorrow to look, be able to tell manufact. then. I suspect bad poly!
went threw a simular situation with a product called diamond elite , bought from home depot and come to find out home depot was buying the bottom of the barrel !! i found that out drectly from the manufacturers rep on the phone !!! you might have gotten a bad batch also !!
Thanks for the responses. Fans and dehumidifier are working, although very slowly!
Now i have to talk my dad into throwing that can out and buying a different brand for a second coat!>G<
Had a problem like that with a basement I did a few years back; but it was a new-fangled water-based poly advertised to dry to re-coat in 2 hours.
Yah. First coat dried in two days; subsequent coats took 3 or 4 days each. Wasn't cold or humid either. Pissed me off some good. Went back to using my old standard oil-based Varathane Diamond Finish after that. 8 hours max; never fails.
Try some fans, bro. Don't know what else to suggest. Good luck to ya....
