I'm downloading the technical data sheet pdf right now. I'm curious what curing method it uses. Some are oxygen cures, some moisture cure, some require an added catalyst, some UV cure....being premixed, it seems like it must be air or water catalyst.OK reading it now - it is water based and up to three hours water cleanup, so doesn't sound like a moisture cure poly.Has a lot of benefits
claims to compare to epoxy based but easier working.+PRODUCT BENEFITS
• Perfect color every time—color is derived from colored
quartz aggregate. No powdered pigment additives.
• No color fading, streaking or shading—even when wet!
• Crack resistant flexibility
• No sealing required ever!
• Pre-mixed and ready to use
• Chemical and stain resistant
• Fast, easy installation—installs up to 50% faster than other grouts
•Warranted
• Re-usable (when stored properly in original container)
• UV stable – Colors will not yellow, darken or fade
• Blockade™ antimicrobial protection
• Dust-free mixing
• 3 hour working time
• Easy water clean up
• Non-sag formula ideal for vertical surfaces
• Contributes to USGBC LEED¯ Credits: MR 4.1 & 4.2
(Recycled Content), and EQ 4.1 (Low-Emitting Materials).
• Grout does not contain cement-based components that
contribute to efflorescenceafter reading it all, it doesn't say, but I get the impression that it cannot be a moisture cure, but is an air or UV cure. They are explicit on not any added water, doing cleanup without a wet sponge, but a hard rubber float and squeege and barely damp sponge and leave a haze to worry about later.I'd want to hear from somebody who has actually used it to know how hard that haze comes off later.Maybe over at the johnbridge forum they have some experienced users.

Downside, CANNOT use the shower for 7 days.
A big negative in many cases (remodel, only BR)
Must pre-seal with water base (two coats or MORE is desireable)
Have to clean is with a citrus based product only??And $$$We are ok in the shower usage. We have another so we can wait the 7 days.
He gave me a cured sample, AMAZING.
It is hard as a rock, you can't dig you fingernail into it, yet it's pliable. Bonds extremely well to the substrate, and has the ability to resist pulling (or cracking) like standard grout. My tiler (technically speaking since the shower is stone, should I call him my stoner?) so far loves it. Loves the ease in applying it, the cleanup.
Only time will tell its durability, stainability, cleanability, hydrophobic ability, etc.EDIT
can be used 1/16" - 1/2" without sag or issue"Good looking people turn me off. Myself included."Edited 6/16/2009 3:06 pm ET by SailfishEdited 6/16/2009 3:07 pm ET by Sailfish

are you referring to spectralock or is "polyurethand" a brand name?
My knowledge of polyurethane grout is that it isn't "grout" that you use in a residential shower.
It's grout for sealing in commercial/industrial applications. Plus being urethane, some are fairly flexible. They're not all rigid like portland cement based grouts.
If you want something more bulletproof than a cementitious grout for a steam shower, look at the epoxy grouts.
But for a steam shower, I highly recommend making it a Kerdi Shower. Highly, highly recommend it. Wicked highly. Wicked pissah highly.
No no link.I'm trying to get more info(hence I check here first :-).
It may be new on the market for residential applications/-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Interesting stuff, I hadn't heard of this before.I emailed them and asked them to send me a bucket to try out.Sounds interesting. I'm interested in it for exterior as well. like a tiled balcony. A little flex but with good stain resistance would be totally Martha.
He said it does have exterior app. abilities-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let us know what you learn.Heck think FHB might even pay for a product review? It does look interesting. They are so leery of any added moisture that exterior might be a problem tho if any rain is in the forecast. Be good for Tucson, but not NE so much.I did see tensile strength of something over 500#

The Bostik Technical Sales Manager was here today demonstrating. He swore my shower wasn't a guinea pig LOL. It's been around for a few years.
I'll send some pics tomorrow (not that you could really see grout from a pic) but its a really nice shower room ;-)-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
