My husband and I are sorting through a material choice for the deck that will surround our above-ground pool. The deck will be exposed to full North Carolina sunshine from early morning until late afternoon. We’ve been considering a composite material like Choicedek or TREE. Several people have indicated that their Tree-type decks seem hotter than a wood deck and that they have had difficulty with stain removal. Does anyone with personal experience with a TREE or Choicedek deck have any comment?

We have trex in Charlotte and it is great! I love it. Take a look at my other on adding a roof to see a picture of my deck.

Julie, trex is an excellent product.. It may get alittle warmer than wood, not so much to be concerned. One thing to think about is if the deck is around a round pool, you will have to install more blocking at the radius. Trex flexs more than wood decking.
