I am trying to refurbish a cedar deck that is about eight years old. The bottoms of the support posts were placed into concrete, and are now rotting out.
The posts are cedar 4×4’s and go from the ground all the way to the top of the railling and are about 11.5 feet long.
Is there an acceptable way to replace the bottoms of the posts and put them on standoffs, one of the posts looks like it has about 2 inches of rot; also the posts and rim joists are nailed not bolted.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I think a long scarf joint would work and not be too difficult to cut in place. I'd use epoxy, but I'm sure other waterproof glues would do the job.
