Any suggestions on how to deal w/ an eng. design showing a 5′ high parapet on a new manufactured home?
I was thinking of requiring crickets…the mh is 68′ long. Any other ideas out there to deal with the snow/rain we get(very little rain..10-12″ yr; but sometimes we do get the snow..1′ to+3′) would be appriciated. Our snow load is only 25psf.
Thanks!

Not really..Just imagine a triplewide mh, 42' wide x 68' long: sidewall paprpet will be as much as 5' tall! Of course the endwalls will follow the roof pitch(3:12); Design does however show "kickers" aligned w/ the mh roof system; then sheeted/flashed; has two scuppers on one sidewall, four on the other. He did not address how the weather is going to drain, though. 1st I've seen of this design.
Eng has it w/ a parapet to give the owner the "look" of a more conventional stick-built house.
The eng has designed this paprpet to be connected in alignment w/ the ext. walls
I never argue with an engineer. ;-)
Many McDonald's restaurants are built with a flat roof inner and the perimeter pitch ending at the parapet. Truss companies refer to this as the "fast food restaurant" truss design.

Thanks Gene...I know what you mean. I tell people I won't get into an arguement w/ them....I just "explain"to them when they see things my way the world will be a better place(joking of course)!
I'll just get him to 'plain to me how the water is going to drain-off. I was just curious if others have dealt w/ this sort of thing..easpecially w/ the roof pitch of 3:12.
As for the McDonalds roofs, we will see them slightly piched to roof drains/scuppers..But the roof system is designed for the LL. With this scenario..you have a mh which is designed for minimal LL.
Thanks again for your input...greatly appriciated.
