I have a Hitichi portable air compressor that I’m not real happy with. You need to plug into a strong 15 amp circuit or a 20 amp circuit to get the thing to run. The air pressure regulator has not worked properly right out of the box. They only reason I bought the thing was that all the carpenters on the housing tracts I was working on used them. I’m thinking of buying an air bottle for trim work and another type for spray textures and framming guns. any suggestions? Thanks for the in put, Hack

I still like my emglo. But since Dewalt has bought emglo I cant really give a good opinion of them.

I feel that Emglo is riding on thier rep.
Boss won't buy anything else, has 4, 2 are ancient but work ok.
Of the 2 newer ones, the one I use and keep-up works good, but only because I constanty fix whatever goes wrong.
The other newer one Has leaked air from the couplers from day one, and they cannot be replaced because they are part of a manifold!!??
The air filter on mine sticks out the side and falls off if you bump anything while carrying it.
I am interested to hear from anyone who has a Yellow Emglo and Really uses it hard as to whether they have changed anything but the paint color.
I am considering the Hitachi or a Thomas or even a PC High output for my shop-in-progress.Mr T
Do not try this at home!

I have a 2hp 4 gallon "yellow" Emglo that I have had since December. So far, so good. It is quieter than my old boss's "blue" one and does not trip breakers like his. I think mine is rated at 14 amps.
Ive heard pretty good things about thomas's. But I also heard they got a little loud. PCs well if the emglo ever dies Ill get me a PC. I think for the price ya cant go wrong.

After a recent theft and motor burnout , the two compressors we use are gone. For running multiple guns we just bought a Thomas Renegade 2 HP that runs smooth , quiet , and reads very well on all the many product reviews I found. I also bought a CastAir single tank after reading a heaped- full- of -praise customer review on an already forgotten website. The single tank is for shoe mould, punchout and installing that last door the lumber company missed that is innevitably in the farthest corner of the house at the end of a job. So far both purchases seem great, both are less noisey than the screaming Makita's they replaced, produce lots of air and seem to be constructed better than the Dewalt, PC's and the rest the box stores carried.
My DeWalt Emglo does not work as hard as a full time framer's or trim carps', but when we need it it's up all day every day. It pulls the 15 amps and likes a circut for itself, but I've never had trouble with it.
Does not leak from the mainfolds, etc. I got it because it is oil bathed.
As I say, it's not in use every day, all day, so take it for what it's worth.Quality repairs for your home.

I like campbell Hausfield. It seems to put out more cfm s than the others. I like the dual tanks and double hose connectors. They're about $250 at HD.
Hi,
I have a Dewalt/Emglo 15115 (?) the single tank 2hp. Great compressor. Never trips a breaker relatively quiet, pumps up fast. I'm not a big fan of Dewalt and this be the only Dewalt tool I have but it's served me perfectly for a few months now.
I checked with my local dealer and they had rave reviews and zero returns and that sold me.

Thanks no trixs, I'll keep the dewalt in mind. Hack
Have the Dewalt. You know, the kind which is real compact and carries well with the black handle and two outlets for the hose. Works well for me and doesn't trip breakers. Not that loud really either.
Noneoftheabove,
Thanks for the review. You're the second Tradesman to give the dewalt air compressor a thumbs up. I'll consider the dewalt on my next compressor purchase. Hack
The one thing that I didn't mention was that this NOT and oiless compressor. It will last longer in the real world than the oiless. I used my old compressor tank along with this one, with a water seperator, and now I am even able to spray small projects with it. I think that you will be happy with it.
None,
I have the Hatichi and that is an oil required compressor. I've sprayed 1400 sqft. house with texture and the pump was running full time. I know you reilly can't expect a small compressor to do a house that size but thats all I have to spray with. My big complaint about the hitachi is it won't run on a 15amp circ. that has any load on it, and in california the houses are 100amp to 200 amp house panels that are maxed out so you have to run on a 20amp which are usualy in the kitchen and sometimes that makes it inconvenient to plug in. My other complaint is the air regulator. It will raise the air pressure but won't decrease, I had that problem right out of the box(I should have taken it back to HD then, No time, so this is the headache I have for having no time) Thanks for the input< Hack
P.S. This is a fantastic fourm, Keep typing the great feed back!
Hack, I had the same problem untill I adjusted the spring loaded air loader. It is located off the air receiver , loosen the two nuts and tighten in a few turns. What you are doing is tensioning the spring on the loader so the compressor has time to come up to speed before closing the loader. Test this now by holding in the spring loader and you will see compressor discharge air venting to atmosphere untill you release /closing the valve and filling the receiver.

I have a PC stack tank portable. Works well, even runs on 15 amp circut. Though I did one project last year where it was running with short brakes (roof sheathing). It overheated and I had to wait 5 or 10 min. before it would turn on again (has a censor inside). Other than that it works great, has two outputs. Seems reliable and its relativly small. To sum it all up, I am very pleased with its performance.
