Our property owners association 2946 strong is in need of a new portable dance floor. The old one was declared unusable and trashed before anyone knowledegable could check it out; so do not know mfg, type connections etc.
Need plans/advice on how to build our own 16 x 16.
If liability issue negates to build own; then any advice on best value for money and best type of connections from commercially available mfg. will be most sincerely appreciated.

The big question here is, "Does the dance floor need to be portable or are you talking a fixed installation?"
If fixed, then any hardwood flooring can be used (I'm kind of partial to hard maple) provided it's put down correctly, sanded and finished.
If it's portable then I think for liability issues you'd be better off with a factory built unit. Ask at large party rental places what they use.
I know of one that was made out of 5X5 sheets of ply. Two sides had cleats that another sheet would screw to. Because the center is floating it has a little bounce which is nice on the feet.
Duh? I guess I should have read the title of the original post . . . "Portable Dance Floor".
I guess that means you need a portable one then, huh?
