Pros- soft start, electric brake, it uses a t-slot for the miter gauge, full size table insert (you can use the same Delta zero clearance insert as a Uni), rack and pinion setup for bevel adjustment and price- my final cost was almost $175 less than the Bosch 4000. Powerwise I think the PC is about the same as the Bosch. Fence- the Bosch is a bit better imho; for laminate or other thin sheet goods you have to mount an L shaped piece to catch the edge on the PC fence. imho the DeWalt fence is better than either.
Cons- the stand. It's a folding one, the only one PC offers. Solid fore and aft, a bit of wiggle side to side. If you need a wheeled stand, you'll have to go aftermarket and negate the initial savings. I've added the Rousseau stand to mine; not as trick as the Gravity Rise stand of the Bosch but more solid. Other cons- no riving knife. Not a big deal to me but it is to some.
Thanks, just trying to decide on job site saw , it is between thie porter cable and Dewalt, I think.
Price won out in the beginning but still, I haven't been disappointed. I've spent some time using my boss and a coworker's Bosch 4000's and prefer my PC. No real time on the DeWalt. As for price, the Porter Cable has been all over the place. Not long ago Amazon and the local Menards had the 3812S for well under $400.
Same pros & con's plus the guard and splitter is easily removable you can then stack stuff on top in the truck.
Also I built a router table insert that fits in the space between the table and the edge of the table extension with the table extended. Works quite slick and fills up the air space between.
I also removed the blade guard from the splitter and aniti kickback pawls. scrapped the blade gaurd and kept the splitter.
