Model 7403… we’ve got a big stripping job to do, specifically on cedar shingles. Anyone have one, whatcha think?
Thanks!

The longer length of these 3-in. stair gauges makes it easier to ensure an accurate layout when working with waned lumber.

I have one - good on not-heart-pine. Too gummy.
I like the Paint Shaver better. makes more noise

Thanks McD... I was just looking at the Paint Shaver Pro on EPay. I had forgotten the PC doesn't have a vacuum port. Ummmm... thank you, no, much as I like PC... no vacuum port, no dice.PaulB
Another tool I've got, that wound up working the best on my couple of decorative shaked gables, was the Silent Paint Remover, or SpeedHeater, or whoever's got it now. The infrared deally. If you get the hanging system too, and get into the rhythm of it, that way works pretty well.
Forrest - got all the paint strippers
But what's the fun if it's silent? ;)PaulB
Well, the scrapers get hot, and there's lots of yelling about that.
Forrest
google silent paint remover
edit: posted before seeng Forest's about the same thing

You absolutely, positively want a vacuum port, and ideally a HEPA filter in your vacuum. And a long hose. There is another one from Metabo, similar to the Paint-Shaver but multi-headed.As I recall Jane Powell was working on an article comparing paint removers. If you like, I'll contact her.
As an update... I ruled out the PC because it lacked a vacuum port, and the Metabo had some significant gripes online. I bought the PaintScraper and returned it the same day. While they say it works well on shingles as long as they are flat, my experience was not good at all.
We wound up scraping, scraping and scraping... by hand...ugh.PaulB
Shingles are reviewed in detail in a recent Old House Journal. I'll get the date when I get home. They used two paint shavers, plus hand-made hand scrapers. Looks like it went well.
