I’m building a portico with a railing around the top and a flat roof. I would like to know what type of material to use on the roof for water proofing. Also what about water run off? Thanks

I don't want to be a smartass and say "the proper roof for what you have going", but a little more in depth on the situation would help. Things like how you want it to look, how big, and it's place on an existing structure could suggest the best idea for roofing. For instance, does it have a parapet wall?
