No one touched this in “tools for homebuilding” so here goes again.
Has anyone used Paslodes positive placement teco nailer and what is your opinion on this tool.(Yes Jim I’m thinking of putting another Paslode in the Ford next to those Dewalt saws, hope you’ll forgive me.)

.Jim... I tried to answer this the other night but I got timed out by AOL.......
..no I haven't..but I did try to buy a Bostich about three months ago.....we had a contract that called for many,many....
My dealer told me Bostich had pulled the gun from distribution with no further explanation...
I saw a gun the other day ..must have been in JLC, it was a single load, could take almost any hand nail, basically took the place of the palm nailers...but it looked like the one I'm going to try for my Simpson hardware... our next job is in a velocity zone...lots of plates and clips...
those California guys must have a good handle on this..
they use so many more plates and clips than we do...hope someone comes thru....

*What about the hangers you can nail through with a regular nail gun? expensive?Jerry
*I've also been hoping someone would respond over at the "tools" forum. Looks like the subfolder idea doesn't always work as it should.I've been interested in the responses you might get. I'm mostly looking at the Senco SN60MC (keeping with the Senco theme that seems to dominate my air tool selection). It looks interesting but at $479 its a rather expensive convenience. I'd like to handle one live and in person to see how compact it really is and how easily it would fit between joists and such on 16" centers. How expensive are the other brands (Bostich, Paslode, et al)? How costly are the nails for these nailers anyway? And are they available in galvinized versions? I put a few decks on here and there and that may make a difference in my decision. The only hangers I've seen that can be nailed with regular guns were called the "Boss" system or somesuch. They used an adapter on the front of a generic framing nailer that fit into a recessed dimple around the nail holes of the proprietary hangers. It looked cumbersome. And I'm guessing the hangers themselves weren't cheap.Dick Streff
*I've been shooting the hangers on with my air tools for years now. I used to use Sencos (325) but the results weren't that spectacular. I now use paslode, and have retired all my Sencos. I can shoot the hangers quite easily with the Paslode. It does take the right touch, and a slightly good aim. Missed shots will bounce around the house. I always angle my gun slightly to influence missed shots. Then, I keep my face out of the path of the missed shots. On a few occasions I've forgotten this bit of advice. Once, I got a fat lip and another time, I knocked the lens out of my sun-glasses. It can be dangerous, and only Master Booger's and boogerer trainees should attempt this.I can shoot through a great variety of fasteners. It requires a square aim, and increases the chances of a facial hit from a rebounding rejection. That's why I prefer to improve my aim, and simply hit the predrilled holes.Blue
*Jim, I'm surprised to see that there is such a thing as a positive placement nailer. That's another "invention" that I dreamed up that has come to market. I dreamed up that tool about ten years ago (maybe seven). How long has it been on the market?I gotta get to work on my other inventions!Blue
*JImMax makes a teco nailer ,Its a high price around $700.But from guys I know that have it say it blows away the Senco.Ed
*The price for the Paslode pp nailer that I was quoted is $550 and the teco nails go for $55.00 for 3000.I"m askin' if this gun is worth the price because now all the builders that I frame for supply any hand driven nails including tecos that I need.So I not only have to justify the cost of the gun but the nails as well.Blue I believe that they have been selling this gun for about a year or so now.I really used to like those Senco 325's too.Bought my first Powermaster 2 years ago and have never regretted it one bit.I do miss that the 325 would get into some tighter places than the Paslode though,I guess that's why now I have a palm nailer now.Another question for ya Blue.Do you just use your regular Paslode for nailing hangers, and where do you get the nails? How do I know when I have reached Master Boogerer status, so that I may try this too?jim
