I am toying with an idea that involved using glass blocks in the exterior walls. My understanding is that the R-value of glass blocks is low, so I wonder if it would be possible to place them “2 deep”, as it were, with some kind of airspace in between that could be SLIGHTLY ventilated if necessary to prevent condensation.
My thought is to use vertical stacks of blocks to surround a new front door, using them as sidelights. Of course, the view obscuring/light transmitting qualities of glass blocks are exactly what I want for this application.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
