I received this and figured that it might be of interest to someone here. It’s a legitimate law firm:
Our law firm is currently investigating Trex decking installed between August 1, 2004 and the present for defects resulting from molding and deterioration. If you or someone you know has had these or similar problems with Trex decking, please contact us about your situation at (612) 605-4098, [email protected] or www.halunenlaw.com.

I have 2 customers that will call. After going through Trex, they both have been told "tough luck".....I'll never install another square inch of the junk. Maurice
OK. Keep in mind that I'm not "soliciting" for the law firm -- just making folks aware. (They're the same firm going after Certainteed for all the bum shingles they sold in the Midwest.)

I'm curious, I've used Trex many times since about 1997 and I don't think I've ever seen it fail ... what exactly are they talking about? Is the decking cultivating mold from within? " If I were a carpenter"
I don't know. I'm just the messenger.

We have been doing clean up for a company that is re doing Trex decks. As I understand it they are de laminating. Or some such. Might not be the 100% correct term.
We did about 1-2/week last summer. This was a sunny area. They brag 300 days of sunshine/yr. Also a good bit of snow there. Don't know if that had anything to do with the failures. I believe the deck company was getting paid through Trex.
Just in the last couple months we are getting a few more on the "wet" side of Oregon. Same company re installing.
I installed a trex deck 15 years ago. Its never had any maintenance, its just very pale compared with the original color. The whole house and garden is a mess, so I know the deck is ignored.
Bottom feeders trying to drum up business. The whole "class action" suit is a sham. It's cliche, but only the lawyers make money off it. The actual plantiffs walk away with a crumb as opposed to the lawyers.
A group of lawyers will gather some clients, as will other groups and they try to overwhelm the company with a sheer volume of complaintants to extort a settlement out of the manufacturers.
I am absolutley not anti-lawyer, but I hate the whole class action thing.
I agree with you Mike. Tort lawyers should be outlawed in this country. Just another of the ills brought about by the fanatical chase for money.
