Is a block foundation for a crawl space as good as a poured foundation for a small room addition with a shady northern exposure in a mid-atlantic climate? We are concerned that it be absolutely dry.

In my parts, poured concrete foundations are not cost effective for crawl spaces. A block crawl will be dry with a proper drain system and damp proofing. Recommendations for basements are a different story.
*dry is not a function of wether it is poured concrete or block.. it is a function of :good drainageexterior waterproofingvapor barrierunderdrainssmp pumps or drains to daylightafter i make sure the basement is going to be dry , i also make sure it is going to be comfortable.we install 2" styro -SM (R-10) under the slab, but knowing what i know now , i wud probably use 3" EPS "Performguard" ..and then stud the walls..
