I’m putting down 3/4 thick T&G prefinished Lyptus flooring, where one room joins another the boards will be at right angles to each other, can I just butt them together, with a spline if necessary, or do I have to use a T-moulding? Will it expand or shrink that much that it will cause a problem?

You can join them at right angles; but don't use glue. If the strips have beveled edges, the edge facing the end grain boards will need to be ripped so the end grain boards aren't proud of it.
