A colleague has built a cedar deck and asks me how to preserve it; I just replaced my 14-yr-old one with terminal rot, and would have recommended pau lope. But he’s built it. Any recommendations from those with experience as to a good “sealant” or other magic bullet?
thank you, ssittler

Pennofin.
Apply with a brush, once a year.
Unless you're the lead dog, the view just never changes.
I use Sikkens Cetol, also expensive, or Cabot. It's a matter of how often you wish to do it. Use Thompson's and it's twice a year. In any case, linseed or other oil, not paraffin.
