Anybody know what copper wire scrap is going for these days? This would be stripped and I was curious as to the price per lb. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for all the replies...lol. In case anyone's interested I called around and it is appx. $1.15 lb stripped.
I am thinking that you got a reply from every single person who read your thread and knew the answer.; )

I am surprised there aren't more "scrappers" on this site, with prices up for copper and steel it can be profitable. At least Luka cares enough to post a reply, I feel better now!
Scrappers get a bad rap.Pops has made a living for a couple decades or more, by scrapping. At over a dollar a pound, I may even start considering tearing apart that really really old line transformer. Probably get a good 30 to 50 pounds out of that thing...Stripped. Does that mean no varnish, as well ?

Yep, "shining like a penny" is the description I got, but come to think of it I have seen some nast pennies before. If it is not stripped and clean the price drops quite a bit, to around .40 cents a pound.
If I have to polish miles of copper wire, then just forget it... It's not worth the trouble and the long trip for the lower price. At the cost of gasoline now, I wouldn't even make gas money...
