Price this armoire!

Gene_Davis | Posted in Business on January 19, 2008 10:32am

There are three alike, see the picture.  Construction is one large carcase made of prefinished red oak flatsawn veneer VCP.  One fixed shelf inside, back in the same 3/4 ply as the sides, deck, and top.  The skinning is a collection of screwed-on raised panel “doors” in red oak, all finished.  Cab guys call them “applied ends.”

The paired swing doors are hinged with Euro cup cab hinges.  Owner does handles.

It is part of a package of work outfitting three suite rooms in a small resort hotel, and there are kitchenettes included in this.  The reason for the call from the owner is that the commercial outfit (Dwyer Kitchens, Wood Dale, IL) that quoted the kitchen cabs, won’t do these, and the owner wants these closet units to match the kitchenettes in species, finish, and details.

Anyone ever seen or heard of Dwyer?  Not me.

I supply Martina with her favorite cocktail.  A martini, of course!

You mean supply her with martiniis?
Or is that a Manhatten?I built one like that back when I was charging 18/hour and the ply was only about 32/sheet. It came to 800 unfinished

$150 per even foot to build.

So $450 plus material, plus finish, plus delivery, plus your cut.

$1500 each, finished and installed.  Maybe a discount to do 3 or more, or if you throw in Martina.

    Three total?

How far do you have to ship (if at all)? Where is the customer?

What finish? Can you apply the finish they want?

    Do you want the job?

    Gene

I have heard that hotels are selling a BUNCH of armoires. Seems with the flat screen HDTVs if they take out the armoire they have a bunch more floor space.

So the hotels wholesale them out.

Not sure where to start to look for them. But i'd bet the price would be right.

(If'in you found the right size, species and color)
