Cant give you a positive answer but it almost sounds like you'd be getting into a double vapor barrier situation.
Not to mention a pain in the rear.

If there's moisture behind the wall, that needs to be addressed. Seems like backpriming the drywall is just a bandaid.
I don't think it would accomplish much. If you painted the back with a fungicide that might help a little.
