propane WH & wood stove coexist nicely?
I’m about to pour the floor on my new detached 24×36 garage, and am trying to finalize the layout of the radiant tubing, etc.
My plan is to put tubing in the floor, and use a propane water heater to keep it at a temperature which will maintain the garage above freezing. When I’m out there working, I’ll fire up the wood stove to bring it up to comfortable temp.
My question is, are there any codes or standard practices relating to how close the WH and gas lines can be to the wood stove. Would I have to have a combustible gas detector w/ fuel shutoff or some similar arrangement to make sure I don’t get a big boom if there’s a gas leak?
This can’t be an unusual situation — a lot of people in this area (NH) heat with wood, and I expect a number of them have propane water heaters in the basement near the wood stove, but seems like there might be an issue . . .

Don, check with your insurance co. and local building codes. In our area wood stoves are not allowed in garages (i.e. vehicle parking sturctures) whether they are or are not attached to a dwelling. Roger
