I removed an old porch (4’x5′) that was cantilevered from the main floor framing off the back of my house. The porch led to steps down to the backyard. Eventually a full sized deck will be added, but in the meanwhile the cut ends of the joists are exposed.
Any recommendations to protect these suckers? We are looking at the better part of the week with rain off and on, so I would like to toss something on during the next break in the precips.
Thanks much,
Jeff

Oil base paint or somthing similar that would not allow moisture to penetrate.

Copper napthalate, 25%, made by Jasco. You paint it on, it seaps in, and keeps water and bugs out.

Thanks Paul. I didn't even think of the bugs. I will look for the Jasco stuff.
