Any of you guys ever get in to that public money. I bid my first public works job here a few weeks back when things were a bit slow and got my feet wet on what it’s all about to bid these jobs. Seems first of all, regardless of what you know about construction and codes – you bid the plans ‘exactly’ as drawn. Then you cut that bid by at least a third if you want the job. I’ve heard from that point (considering you got the job) you use change orders to get the one third discount back plus the actual change order value. Looks like there’s plenty of money in these jobs if you know how to play the game.
Anyone know how the game is played?
