I am replacing an old jig saw that has seen it’s last day! Any recommendations for a jig saw that is dependable and few problems?? Also would you recommend cordless or not??

I think the majority opinion of the last several posts on jig saws was the Bosch, at least for the corded jig saw. Sample past thread: 21468.1
Your main decision then is whether to get the "D" handle or the barrel grip...
Get both solves all...
Who ever invented work didn't know how to fish....
Thanks, I appreciate your comments.
Thanks for your comments, I will wait for the new Bosch jig saw coming out in February or at least that is what I've been told!!
i ve used a dewalt with the adjustable blade thingy for 5 years, ie fine cuts vs more aggressive cuts, have cut hundreds of sink cutouts and many other jobs, never a problem, nice simple allen key blade change, lots of power, not a great saw but a good saw
i dont really care for toolless blade change type saws, seem to always lose the blade
simple is better, buy some allen keys, the're cheap
caulking is not a piece of trim
I was really considering the Dewalt saw but am now leaning toward a Bosch based on the comments I have seen. Have you ever tried the Bosch??
Thanks for your comments.
no i havent, i do cabinets and c'tops all day every day and my dewalt has never failed in 5 years, ut oif course any quality brand saw will do the samecaulking is not a piece of trim
steve, I thought you said "quality brand"? DW ;)
I do cabinets and remodeling and have got the Metabo barrel grip...it's a little heavier than other "quality brands" but then the best/longest lasting tools usually are.
I see metabo as bosch's bigger, smarter brother.

I have a Bosch #1587 top handle. So far I like it.
I don't need to use it every day, but when I do it dose a good job.
Thanks for the comments, will probably get the new Bosch when it comes out in February!!
Bill,
I have owned many different models and now own the variable speed Bosch. With its quick change blades, you need no tools to go from blade to blade. It has a positive lock tilting bed and a orbital blade selection. My vote is for Bosch.

Thanks for your comments, I will probably get the new Bosch whern introduced in February.
Two names: Bosch and Festool.
The Festool is cool, but the Bosch boys told me whan I was a t teh Home Buliders show in Vegas that their NEW Bosch will whup the Festool.
I cross examined them, and the seemed to adress my concers.
Time will tell, but look at the new one.
My first tool was a Bosch jig...still have it.

Thanks for your comments. Any idea when the new Bosch will be introduced?? I have read that it would be sometime in February. Did they mention anything to that at the Home Builders Show??
Everybody loves the Bosch Jig saws.
And rightly so they are good tools.
But try the Metabo and you will never look back!Mr T

Bill,
Just about everyone on the planet who has used a Bosch agrees that it is one of the best tools ever made. Unless you have some serious tool loyablty, you can't go wrong with it. Ditto with the metabo but they are not as readily available (at least not in my area). I was a rabid Bosch jig fan until I got my hands on the new Makita. Essentially the Bosch jig done better. It's crazy good but a litttle more money. I think it was worth it. You couldn't go wrong with any of these for sure.
