Help!! I am looking for some input on how to correctly tie in the shingles on a new dormer roof to an existing shingled roof. I am thinking of doing an overlapping valley. The roof is a 1:1 pitch and the dormers are fairly small (4′ wide w/ 1:1 pitch).
I am specifically looking for tips on the shingling portion!
Thanks in advance,
Mark

Mark,
You should consider using a metal flashing instead of trying to weave the shingles. If you've never done this before, you may be in for a treat.(one that you won't like)
You're going to have to use a step flashing against your dormer so why not a valley also?

*Mark, Here's an old thread that discusses various types of valleys.Good luck!

Mongo,
Thanks for link. They had some really good information. I might just tear off the old shingles and start with a "clean slate" if you will.
Thanks again,
Mark
