Whats that fastest way to replace a wooden door and its frame and replace it with metal to meet code. The door I have has windows , 1st I was told to replace it with a metal door, then I was to replace the frame also. The wooden door and frame were Therma tru, the replacement metal door I ordered is Therma TRu. Should I just order a metal frame to go along with the door. This leading from the to the house to the garage. I don’t want to tear out and replace sheetrock and have a sizing problem thats why I’m using the same company doors. Any suggestions for getting the wooden one out easily and replacing it with the metal one.
Thanx

Greg,
Typically, A fire door needs a slightly larger rough opening than a normal entry door of the same size, I'm pretty sure. That would mean that you can remove the wrong door, install the fire door, and then install slightly larger casings on both sides. There shouldn't be any drywall work to do.
If I'm mistaken and the rough opening you need is a little larger than what you have, then enlarge it by moving the stud & jack over over slightly on one side, or both, and then put the new door in. If you needed to gain a half inch or so, I would use a sledge hammer, pardon the barbarity, to move each side over and then re-nail them. Still no drywall work to do. Good luck.
