I am wrapping my windows with 1×4 PVC trim and would like to do the same with my entry doors. Is PVC Trim stable enough to remove the wood brickmold on the doors and replace it with the PVC Trim? Can I attach a aluminum screen door to the PVC Trim? I would make the trim 1&1/4 thick just like the wood brickmold. I have not work with PVC Trim in this type of application.
Thanks for your help.

PVC moulding is an excellent choice for all kind of exterior or interior trim. It can be cut, sawn, drilled, screwed, nailed and painted just like wood. Unlike wood it won't warp or split. PVC moulding is also impervious to insect damage, rot and decay.
The screws for the screen door should be long enough to go into the framing if at all possible.

You seem to have missed your recent inquiry about pvc.
Go to your profile, click on "activity".
It'll show your past postings in threads......................sort of-you gotta hunt and peck.

I've had good luck screwing the storm frame to the pvc w/o going into solid backer behind.
Closer? another story-I'd seek out framing for that.
They make brick mold
They do make pvc brick mold. Which might be easier to install if the width is closer to that of what you are removing.
Just a thought.
PVC Door Trim
As someone else pointed out, they do may PVC brickmold. We use mainly AZEK brand and have had good success. The only caveat is that painting AZEK dark colors can cause problems because of expansion when it's in direct sunlight on warm days. When the client wants a dark color we use a different brand that isn't prone to that problem. In both cases, the profiles are a dead match to the wooden brickmold, so we can swap them out without disturbing the siding.
ok
So what's the different brand, that's not prone to exp and movement according to sun or heat/cold?
thanks
PVC Door trim
I had to check with the glass shop where we order it. The brand is Plaspro. It's a different material than AZEK; I don't know the details. It's an injection-molded product with a plastic cladding fused to the exterior. Overall, I'm more used to working with AZEK, but we keep some of the Plaspro on hand for when conditions warrant using it.
PVC Trim
Three years ago I replaced my patio door and to trim this I used PVC trim this spring I noticed a white "wash" on my concret patio. It looks as if I had a paint that was chalking. There is no other trim or painted surfaces that this can be coming from as my house is brick.
So I don't agree with your suggestion. I purchased my trim board at Lowe's.

What brand did you purchase, I'm not familiar with what Lowes carries as I never by any material there.
I have never had a "chalking" from solid PVC from Azek or Koma or Versatex.
Any pictures?
The "white wash" sounds like
The "white wash" sounds like efflorescence.
