Hi all,
About three months ago, a connection between pvc pipes (outside, for the sprinklers) became unglued. Called Roto Rooter, they glued the pipes together.
Three months later, it happened again. Luckily, it was still under their warranty…and the same guy glued the pipes again. He thinks that it’s happening because it’s a connection between an inch PVC pipe and 3/4 PVC pipe. Plus there’s a 90 degree angle. Does that make sense?
Should I have the spot repiped with new PVC?
I think I want it done by a real plumber OR can I hire a reputable gardener to do this type of work?
Any help/guidance would be really appreciated…thanks!

around here, Roto-Rooter just does sewer cleaning

No, this doesn't make sense. The sizes of the pipes and the reducers used don't matter. Does this pipe go through a foundation wall above grade and then directly down into the ground ? If this is the case, ground movement due to winter frost could be pulling the PVC connection apart.
I would leave the gardener to planting flowers and call a plumber.

The way I understand your post Roto-Rooter repaired it twice? Then they tell you its hooked up wrong? Why didn't they fix it right the first time? I don't think that your gardener can resolve this [I may be wrong], get someone that knows what they are doing.Lots of luck.
It's the 90* angle.
Ya don't have a length of pipe friction to keep the 90* from backing off the pipe.
You need a couple of pressure blocks, AKA pillows.

Next time it comes apart, buy 2 bags of cheap ready-mix. Nestle them into the ends of the pipes and firmly pack soil behind them. Backfill the hole and it won't happen again, assuming the joints were glued properly.
Uh. . .leave the concrete in the sack, don't just dump it in.

####PVC fitting to pipe joint done properly will be stronger than the pipe itself. Clean the end of the pipe and socket of the fitting, apply purple primer, add PVC cement, turn the fitting to spread the cement, hold at desired location for about ten (10) seconds, (depending upon ambient temperature), and that joint is completed. A pipe pulled out of the fitting is usually the result of improper joining technique.
