I need to pick up a solid table saw for homeowner type use. I do a fair bit of carpentry but am not a professional out there every day. Try to pick quality tools, though, and take very good care of them.
Anybody own the DeWalt 744X 10″ table saw (http://www.dewalt.com/us/products/tool_detail.asp?productID=15325)?
Good tool?
I will be ripping both soft and hardwood on this tool. I have used a Makita portable table saw which I liked very much, but I’ve been buying mostly DeWalt power tools for 15 years now and have had excellent results with them (I know, most of ’em are made outside the USA now, but these days what isn’t)?

I've been abusing one for over 10 years. The fence is great, the saw turns out quality cuts. I've also used the older Bosch a lot, it's nicely accurate, also...
We'll have a kid
Or maybe we'll rent one
He's got to be straight
We don't want a bent one
He'll drink his baby brew
From a big brass cup
Someday he may be president
If things loosen up
A friend has one. It is 10 years old and only recently had to have it's motor replaced, but that was because a junior carpenter decided to burn it out. I really like the fence on DeWalts and I used to own a 745. I haven't bought another table saw yet because I can't find any with as good a fence as it.
Thanks for the feedback, I'll start looking for some good sales and pick one up.

I have one about ten years old too. Had two problems with it, but DW stodd behind the tool for both.
