After about a month of research and deciding if i’d use it enough I finally decided to buy a thickness planer. I came home today with the DW735. I took it out of the box set it up and ran a test piece, I was less than impressed. After I ran a piece of clear pine through I noticed lines on the board(almost like a void in the blade). I took the unit apart and checked the blades and found nothing that looked wrong. Anyone else notice this? Is this normal? Did I not remove enough material? I’m starting my wainscoting job tomorrow and was planing on using the planer for it. Do I just need to run a sander over the boards after i’m done?

You thought a planer would give to a finished surface? Only if you are very undemanding.

I guess I really didnt know what to expect. I talked to a Dewalt rep today and he gave me a few pointers. After I ran a few more boards through things came out alot better. I knew I would have to sand but like I said in my last post it looked to me like the blade was gouged.
Sounds like you're getting there. No idea what advice you got, but I've only used a bench top planer once. Finish was exceptional, compared to my heavy duty hog with far fewer cuts/inch. Knives are the key. A nick is annoying. I don't remember if you can offset a knife on DW, but that's the standard fix.

Thats what Dewalt told me to do. Offset the blades.
