I’ve attached two photos that are found in the Trim-Tex catalog. I love the options that their products offer and would really like to do something creative with my drywall installation. The photos show an arched passage way with additional detailing. I’d like to try and duplicate something similar to this between my living room and dining room. However, I have 2×4 wall construction and the photos give me the impression that this wall didn’t begin that way. Am I correct in assuming that this wall began with 2×6 or larger framing to achieve this effect?
Thanks in advance for all comments.
New knowledge is priceless.
Used knowledge is even more valuable.

I think you are correct in assuming that this archway wall began with 2x6 framing.
You can make your 2x4 framing into a 2x6 by attaching 2" packing to your existing studs and plates. I would be inclined to use PL and lots of (non-Piffin) screws.
There are lots of layers there - looks good, but it certainly won't be fast or cheap to do!
