Has anyone ever heard of using all weather plywood as a tile backer in a shower enclosure?

Why? It is more expensive and offers no add'l benefit - unless there is a structural load/ issue you have not mentioned.
Basically you are referring to Marine or PT plywood. The marine ply is way overkill ($$$$) and the PT may react with the thinset or adhesive.

Thanks for the input. I also agreed, but it was already installed. I was just wondering if anybody else had ever heard of using all weather plywood for tile backer. My plan is to remove the plywood and install cement board. Thanks again for your input.
Well now if there is no thickness issue you could attach the CBU to the plywood and tile on top of that.
Or cover with drywall and use Kerdi.
I use exterior ply per the Bryne tile book.
Then laminate with roofing felt set with roof cement .
Cover that with Hardibacker.
It's comforting to have a watertight system before you even tile.
