I got spread out on some jobs and had to get another compressor.
Makita just came out with a new little single-tank 2 HP, 2.6 gal., 3.4cfm with oil crank that is the quietest compressor I’ve been around. Motor chugs along at 1750 rpm and sounds reminescent of those big IR 1500cfm 2 stagers we used to run in the big sawmills…..only quieter.
Mine cost $189. Probably better deals elsewhere. Not big enough for a framing gun, but runs a finish gun and a siding nailer just fine.
Comes with a decent petcock, but in a fairly vulnerable location.
Rubber feet have suction cup bottoms.
Nice unit so far.

Notchman,
How heavy is this quiet compressor of yours? Tempt me with low mass!
Bugle
It's lighter than my Emglos (the dual-tank type). It has a carry handle directly over the unit so it's easy to move around because when you're carrying it, your arm is pretty much at your side since the unit is tall and narrow (relatively speaking)....would be a good one for trooping up and down stairs I would think.
I went out to the shop and grabbed the owners manual...doesn't give a weight, but I'd guess 50 lbs. or so.
The Makita Model # is MAC700
And it really is quiet (for a compressor). My customer's DW even remarked about it.
According to the Amazon website, the weight is 52 lbs...

Thanks, Notchman. I have a twin Emglo, and want something lighter/quieter to supplement it.

too bad the Price Ain't Light....LOL Don't worry, we can fix that later!
Interesting, but I was thinking more along construction lines. Very hard to get SCFM specs on that site.
