radiant floor institute? credible?
Has anyone heard of the Radiant Design Institute? I am hoping that they are a credible source. They have a good web site. I designed my system per their specs. There are 2 things which seem to be controversial though. first; metal plates(for staple up) are a useless and second; staple the double bubble insulation to the bottom of the joists. I have heard to only go down a max of 4 inches from the subfloor. I am curious to find a consensus

I just spent about 3 minutes looking at that site. Every page I looked at had something that was not credible.
Plates work. Conduction is better at heat transfer than convection or radiation.Turn on the kitchen sink tap. Hold your hand 2 inches from the water. Feel anything?Stick your hand in the water. Feel anything now?
Without plates you have to run the system temp much hotter. For every 3 degrees you can lower the system temp, you save 1% fuel costs.

I have to agree with rich1, every page I looked at has concerns. Either the RH industry is telling us a pack of lies and this web site is the "Shinning Light in the Forest" or.. .

Within the last few days someone posted about their new radiant floor with no plates, just bubble foil.
Result seems to be no heat from system if I remember correctly.
Bubbles are for bathtubs, not floors.
