hey all,
a customer is considering linoleum (marmoleum?) for a bathroom floor. they like the resilient quality. but, they want to put an electric heat mat down to keep the floor warm. I am thinking of setting the mat in 3/8 – 1/2″ of floor leveler to get a good smooth surface and then putting the flooring directly on top of that. Any reason not to do this? will the warm floor effect the adhesive or the linoleum in any negative way? Any hints or advice are welcome.
Thanks,
Brad.

I would contact the flooring manufacture on this one.
I am not familar with your product, but substrate, glue, and environment (location) are all issues in any warrenty claims.
I once had a claim denied by Mannington because of the the wrong underlayment, even though the clain was for heat yellowing under the refrigerator. The rest of the floor was fine, but because the HO installed a waferboard underlayment instead of the required GP product, we could not get a settlement. Later got a replacement from the supplier because they were selling "second" material at full retail, and not disclosing it was not first quality goods.
Beware any flooring manufactures verbal ok, to do anything. Get it in writing. CYA, you are they guy that will have to eat the replacement otherwise.
