I’m looking for some suggestions for a roofing material for a porch roof that has a radius on the outer edge. (imagine a half circle attached to a flat wall). The roof on teh house is metal R-panels. Seems that cutting R-panels to match would be a ridge nightmare and a waste of a LOT of material. We are giving thought to a shake type roof. Anybody have any lines on newer high-tech shake material, similar to the recycled plastic composites for decking? Or any other ideas besides a shake type materail?
Thanks for any input –
Mike

Copper might look nice. There are several threads on breaktime showing some really nice copper roofs.
I agree with the suggestion to look on Breaktime. They've talked about a rubber material designed to look like slate. I believe the consensus was that it wasn't a very durable product, but for your purpose it may be okay. Copper, of course, would be nice, but I think your objection would still hold--quite a bit of waste when you use sheets of material for a circular area.

I was thinking more along the lines of copper shingles such as cu (seeyou now) did for Karl's turret.
Oh, completely forgot there are copper shingles! Yeah, they would be excellent!
