   Yeah, and probably one of those non-contact Christmas light testers would work.

   is there something wrong with theanswers ya got???

   a Greenlee 20011/00521 circut seeker will do the job too but the Bosch DMD4 Digitsl Multi-Detector is about 850/900$ cheaper...

   As a general rule, if you just start cutting you'll find the wires soon enough. Especially if the power's on when you do it. The trick is to NOT find the wires.

   (Several types of circuit-tracing devices might be used. I had a cheap GB unit that would have done the job, but it quit working about a year back.)

   Any of the heated gypsum panels I have removed were filled up pretty good with wires. I could not imagine getting around them.
