I was all set to seal my driveway this weekend and the forecast changed to a chance of pop-up showers (western PA). If I put down the asphalt sealer and it rains, how much of an affect might it have? I assume it depends on how much rain and how long it’s been drying, but does anyone have any experience or info to help me make an educated guess on whether I should gamble or not? Sealers I’ve used in the past seem to dry fairly quickly to the touch, though recommended stay off times are around 24 to 36 hrs. I know best advice is to wait until a few dry days are guaranteed, but I’m running out of summer. Thanks.

Just use the pop-up blocker from your PC
;)
The answer depends on whether your sealer is true oil based or an emulsified coating. Emulsified can wash off again. i will bet there is both instructions on the container and an 800# to call for tech help, otr a website from the manufacturere for info and FAQs

Thanks for the reply. The manufacturer's website FAQ feature is down, so don't know if that would have helped. I thought about emailing, but figured they probably wouldn't answer till Monday. Anyway, sealed it this morning and dodged the bullet. Dry except for a brief light shower mid morning, and could've prevented that if I'd known about the pop up blocker. Thanks again.
