I have been looking for raised panel drywall but cant find the manufacturer. I want to get some info before I go to the wholesaler so I don’t sound like an idiot. I’ve seen it used before so I know it exists.
Thanks

Skim-coating with joint compound covers texture, renews old drywall and plaster, and leaves smooth surfaces ready to paint.

Dustin,
I spec'ed the Pittcon drywall panels for the wainscot in the boardroom of a telephone company's corporate headquarters recently. I will never make that mistake again.
First of all, the relief was shallow enough that it didn't cast the dramatic shadow lines that make raised panels so beautiful, but even worse the panels were super fragile. They broke and crumbled very easily when cut and several of them had the paper face literally fall off when they were mudded up in the tape and bed phase. It took the drywall company's top gun several hours of tedious work to make it look good enough to work.
Also be aware that you will have to order in 25 sheet bundles if you don't have a local supplier that stocks it. I was very careful to lay out the panels on my drawing to use exactly one bundle. That was fine until a couple of sheets ended up as drywall dust in the middle of the floor. That was a very expensive mistake.
Even if I liked the product enough to spec it again the bids to install it would likely be so high the client would almost break even to go with real wood. Of course this was a corporate job with gorillas used to working with 5/8 so maybe they didn't treat it with the finesse it deserved. It did look pretty nice when it was finished but nothing like the real thing.
