I know that when you run a crown molding up a rake board both the size AND the profile change. Anybody know of a formula or computer program that can figure this out.
I have seen explanations in old reprint books showing how w/ spring angles and tangent lines etc. I just get a headache trying to figure it out.

it won't change if you spring the fascia crown out at an angle equal to the roof pitch plus the spring angle.
there is no formula (Joe will prove me wrong on this) it is a geometric derivation.
