I have a 1947 post war ranch house, solid as a rock, updated utilities; but needs a updated look as well as some more square feet. I’ve looked everywhere on the internet for something to give me some ideas. I don’t want to copy anyones design, I just would like to see what other people have done. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

...i would look to the craftsman bungalows for inspiration...
*I agree with Mike. My last home was a typical postwar ranch, but had been done up with several craftsman-type details. Nothing grand, just little touches. It always amazed me to see the looks of people who recognized the arts and crafts influence and kinda realized that it wasn't just your ordinary little 50's cookie cutter.
