Rastra Block Fraud

NetZeroWest | Posted in General Discussion on May 20, 2013 10:05am

Watch out folks-  For those of you considering ICF’s and are looking into Rastra Block- please be informed of current and ongoing lawsuits with Rastra Inc.  www.rastrafraud.com  Please don’t make the same mistakes trusting this company.  You can get the same post recycled ICF’s direct from the actual manufacturer, or other people who will do the logistics for you.  It is a massive bummer when you are starting a project like so many listed on the website- only to have the whole project slam on the brakes and get churned into waiting on already paid for product and silent ears of a company wrapped up in fraud.

    Rastra Faud - BEWARE!

It apprears that Rastra Enginering is still in business.  We were defrauded by them for $11,352.07 in April of 2011.

The product can be obtained from other retailers and I built my house with it, so the product is still viable, but the Rastra people are criminals.

If you buy from Rastra.... be careful.

    Rastra Fraud

Yup, they are still ripping people off.  Their trick is to keep under the federal radar, and slightly above the easy $10k lawsuit status...  www.rastrafraud.com

If anyone else has been screwed, send the info to the email on their website...

    Perform Wall, a safer choice.

I have little knowledge of the issues with Rastra, but I remember about 10 years or more ago that a new company was formed called Perform Wall. Kinda remember something about someone with Rastra breaking away and starting a company called Perform Wall. I could be way off on that but did know a contractor in New Mexico that used Rastra for sometime and then became a distributor for Perform Wall.

No matter what the history is, it appears Perform Wall is the company to deal with when it comes to a quality product and reliability. It basically is the same product as the Rastra product from what I remember.

I was a home designer in New Mexico for a number of years and have designed and drawn the construction plans for a few ICF homes under both company names.

As far as the Perform Wall product is concerned, it is an amazing material that can be used for exterior and interior wall construction. It is very light weight, 2 men can stack it for walls. It is an amazing product if your looking for great insualtion values, sound reduction and if your trying for the rounded adobe look, I'd recommend it. It's not hard to install, but would recommend for those who haven't used it to get technical support from the manufacturer. There are pdf doc's available for correct install instructions.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents worth.

Consider RASTRA Again - New Company, New Owner

The RASTRA Insulated Concrete Forms is still an outstanding product in today’s market.  It is the most extensively tested ICF product available today.  Although other company Insulated Concrete Forms exist, they have not undergone the rigorous testing, plus lack decades of experience in process and application.

The RASTRA product lines were recently purchased by Russ Ferry, President & CEO, Orlando FL and is newly registered as RASTRA Inc.  This new company strongly believes in the importance of this quality tested product and helpful customer service.  We have a policy of returning all inquiries within 24 hours.  We want our customers to be completely satisfied with our product, service, and delivery.   We are working hard to heighten the confidence of purchasing RASTRA products.

Please contact us with any questions or concerns at:   [email protected] or (407) 304-0543.   We look forward to having the opportunity of working with you on your current and future projects.

Consider RASTRA Again - New Company, New Owner

RASTRA is an excellent product line name that the new RASTA Inc. President & CEO wants to maintain.

Today, RASTRA is not only recognized as the original, but also as the best product of any ICF category.

Approved by the International Code Council (ICC) under Legacy Report ER-4203, ER- 9955, and classified by UL under design U915, RASTRA is the most extensively tested Composite Insulated Concrete Form available today. While copycat composite ICFs exist, these products did not undergo the rigorous testing, lack approvals and decades of experience in process and application.

  7. Eterna | Jul 27, 2015 03:44pm | #10

    ETERNA the other company

I agree the Rastra ICF block is a great building material. ETERNA has been the manufacturer/supplier of the block

since 2000 up until the purchase by mr.Ferry in june of this year. Also the supplier of Performwall for the past 4 years.

We were also part of the group that brought Rastra into the USA in 1989 and put the first plant into production in the US.

When you talk about "decades of  of experience in process and application" you must know ETERNA has by far the most

experience in the gray ICF block.

Although we were the supplier during this time we were never involved in any fraud. Infact we helped some of the

people that were cheated with the block needed to compleat there projects. We only provided the 90 inch length block

(easier to handle) not 10 ft. block.

Please contact us at [email protected] or call Grady at (928) 485-0589. We look forward to your business

The other company with the DECADES OF EXPERIENCE and BUILT IN THE USA!!!

      Rastra, Inc. Orlando Florida

I personally wish to thank Eterna and its owners for the positive comments about the Rastra product of Compound Insulated Concrete Form (ICF).  As mentioned they were involved in the first Rastra plant and technology brought to the USA in the late 80's.

I purchased the production lines and the rights of Rastra for the United States and Canada and took possession June 1, 2015.  I consituted a new company: Rastra, Inc. under Florida statutes and move the headquarters to Orlando.

I am presently producing Rastra blocks, end pieces, flat panels and provide all requested Rastra accessories to our customers throughout the USA and Canada.  We have many satified customers and would like to have the opportunity to develop many more.

I personally have been a developer in South California in the early to mid 90's, A licensed General and Engineering Contractor in California, New Mexico and Minnesota during this time.  I have directly built internationally in Asia and Eastern Europe over the years.

I have personally built with Rastra and found that Rastra 10 foot blocks; both singles and doubles have more weight and incur much less blow out issues and due to the extra length,  save time in constructing walls which saves money and develops overall more profitibility. In addition, Rastra, Inc. is also providing end piece elements as mentioned above,  as well as 2" and 3 5/8 " flat panels,  which I believe Eterna is not producing and providing at this time.

I would encourage any and all to allow Rastra, Inc. an opportunity to assist and provide Rastra materials to you any where in the USA and Canada.  Please also be aware that Rastra, Inc can now review projects for export.

Please call me personally if you or others have any questions at 321-284-8180 ext. 205.

      Sincerely,

      Russell Ferry

          "Rasta" is sometimes short

"Rasta" is sometimes short for "Rastafarian", a religious sect popular in parts of the Caribbean.  In particular, many "reggae" musicians are Rastafarians.  But there's no real reason why the term would carry negative connotations, as the religion, though a little "odd", is one of the most benign and peace-loving religions in the world.

But the blocks being discussed are "Rastra Blocks" (note the second "r").  Entirely different.
